Devon “Devi Dev” Anjelica was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. Since a very early age, Devi Dev, was drawn to radio and spent her childhood dreaming of one day having her voice heard on the airwaves. As she grew up listening to radio legends, Rick Dees (KIIS FM), Theo and Julio G (The Beat) and Big Boy (Power 106), her passion and love for radio continued to blossom.
Devi Dev broke into the radio scene during college at Cal State Northridge as the co-creator and host of Zombie Radio, where she interviewed the hottest Cali artists, including Crooked I, Strong Arm Steady and Jay Rock.
After finding her true calling during her college radio show, Los Angeles’ 93.5 K-DAY took notice of Devi Dev’s drive and growing fan base and brought her on board to learn all facets of radio. During her tenure at the station, she held the roles of On-Air Personality, Music Director, Assistant Program Director and Community Actions Host. While at K-DAY, Devi Dev quickly became the young fresh voice of the West Coast and interviewed top entertainment figures, including Kanye West, Jamie Foxx, Shaquille O’Neal and John Legend.
After four years at K-DAY, Devi Dev took her infectious personality to Radio One’s 97.9 The Box (KBXX) in Houston, TX. Devi Dev quickly won the hearts of the South and her show was ranked the #1 mid-day show in the market.
After conquering Houston, Devi Dev set her eyes on the Big Apple and joined Hip-Hop news legend Sway Calloway as co-host on his national radio show, Sway in the Morning on Sirius XM’s Shade 45. During her time on the show, Devi Dev interviewed a diverse range of entertainers, including Mark Walhberg, Nicki Minaj, John Singleton, Kim Cattrall and more.
Shortly after moving to New York, MTV Network noticed Devi Dev’s professionalism and versatility, and tapped her to join their new show, “Hip Hop POV” as a seasoned entertainment host. Debuting in April 2012, the late-night music and talk show features a diverse panel of experts discussing entertainment news and interviewing today’s hottest artists. In addition to the weekly show, Devi Dev can also been seen weighing in on industry news specials for both MTV and MTV2 Networks.
In a male driven industry, Devi Dev has truly broken through many boundaries to build a solid reputation as a journalist and a trusted personality. Her reach and knowledge of the entertainment world as well as her connection to her viewers and listeners, has allowed her to conduct interviews with legendary artists, including Dr. Dre, T.I., Quincy Jones, Ice Cube and more. In addition, Devi Dev has been featured and interviewed by numerous top tier media outlets such as CNN, TMZ, Entertainment Tonight, and Good Morning America. She has also been tapped to represent top brands such as Bud Light, Pepsi and Ovation Cell Therapy for their voice campaigns.
No matter where she is in the world, Devi Dev always remains true to her Cali roots by working on numerous projects with fellow natives, including her critically acclaimed mixtape, “The SEX ep” with Terrace Martin, a follow-up to their “Here, My Dear” project, which was ranked in XXL’s top mixtapes of 2010 list. In addition, Devi Dev also created an online radio show, “TheLEFTeffect” with DJ Eque, which provided a platform for rising artists, including Kendrick Lamar, Nipsey Hussle, Freddie Gibbs and Big K.R.I.T.
Devi Dev resides in New York City with her fiancé, Duane Brown, a NFL offensive lineman for the Houston Texans. They are currently planning their July 2012 wedding in Los Angeles
