On Saturday I headed down to Club Nokia to check out the Goodie Mob show. Though a tad disappointed at first because B.o.B wasn’t the opener, I truly appreciated that everything ran on time! The energy was bananas and watching them all together again doing songs like “Cell Therapy”, “Dirty South” and “Get rich to this” made it one of my favorite show’s to hit that venue so far.

*sidenote* Even with a killer west coast homage set, I was still pretty bumed that the surprise performance from Kurupt never happened :(

Shouts to Muthafckn Erica, Fred Mac, Mizzle, Lil Bear Lawson, Crooked i and Tsmif for hangen out :)

Tuesday night The Roxy on sunset was definitely the place to be! Strong Arm Steady threw a release show for their “In search of Stoney Jackson” album that was completely sold out and chalked full of great cameo performances like Self Scientific, Langauge Arts, Planet Asia, Tristate, U-N-I, and my favorite collabo of the night…Black Thought and David Banner (Watch Vid HERE)! Shouts to B-Real, Charlamagne the God, Lil Duval, Lil X and Daylan from Hip Hop Official who were also in building :)

Check out the video from the Bling Booty & Bullets Panel I was on last week along with Melyssa Ford, Nipsey Hussle, Director X, and Tony Touch. Shouts to Broccoli City!

You can tell midway just how heated it got, but even this video doesn’t do it justice. We ended up having great dialogue for about 3 hours and some change. Big ups to the students of UCLA!

Goin down this Tuesday at The Roxy!  SAS X MadLib XPlanet Asia X Self Scientific X J-Rocc X Beat Junkies…hosted by yours truly….be there! :)

.

When: 6:00-8:00PM

Where: The Broad Art Center Auditorium Rm. 2160e (Capacity of 400)

“In an effort to educate the UCLA and greater Los Angeles community on issues pertaining to the representation of women, African Americans, and the greater hip hop culture, Hip Hop Congress will host a panel discussion that thoroughly examines the underlying social messages embedded within hip hop music videos. Many are aware of the stereotypes that are perpetuated in these videos but few are actually willing to deliberate and converse about them.
Striving to promote edutainment (education + entertainment), the discussion will be formatted to watch different clips and compilation-footage of hip hop music videos throughout history and then spark a discourse about the social, cultural, and political undertones embedded within the videos. “

After going to the Freedom Awards in the fall- My boy Quddus realized what a problem modern day slavery still is- 27 million people deep to be exact- and now that there’s so many orphaned children vulnerable to traffickers in Haiti that number is only getting bigger. To raise awareness for this issue he’s launching “A Contest For Freedom” and handing out a cash prize of $800 to the most inspiring and most popular short videos about why slavery sucks. Check out this video where he explain’s it and go to Freetheslaves.net for more information.

#DOPE!

Shouts to my boy Eazee for putting this video together our of the footage he got at the JBC Haiti Relief event we did last month.

This is only vid that had a bunch of behind the scenes footage including interviews with SAS, Nipsey, Diz Gibran and more. Plus…the always awesome performance shots. #DOPE

Kicked off Saturday night with my girl Erica at Phillipe Chow’s for Interscope’s Pre-Grammy Dinner (*sidenote* while okay, Phillipe’s has nada on Mr. Chow’s). We were worried all this excessive eating was gonna make us late for the Trey Songz/ Melanie Fionna show at HOB, but luckily for us they were running later then us. Made it to the table as soon as he got on stage. Even though bringing Drake and Fabolous was a nice touch, Trey all by himself proved to be an incredible show.

BMI’s “How I wrote that song” panel was awesome this year. Held at HOB-Sunset, featuring panelist’s like Common (drool), Nas, Salaam Remi, Colbie Caillat, Sebastian Krys and Zac Brown, the Levi’s/ L.A Times sponsored event had us all feeling a bit festive. Between the Music, the food, the 1pm open bar, Roc Nation brunch upstairs and a sighting of Rhianna, it was a great way to spend a saturday afternoon. THEE BEST part was when common did an impromptu live performance of “The light” with Colbie Caillat. Check the Hardknock tv footage :)
