Shouts to Order Empire for this vid! When L.A’s 93.5 KDAY held its 1st annual Krush Groove I had the chance the to sit down with surprise guest DJ Quik and talk a little bit about his upcoming album “The Book of David” (hits stores in August). There also amazing footage of Xzibit, Too $hort, E-40, Glasses Malone and Mack 10. Enjoy!

I hosted the “Krush Groove” concert last Friday at the Gibson Ampitheatre with performances from Mack 10, Slick Rick, E-40, Too $hort, Bone Thugs N Harmony (all 5 members!) and surprise guests Xzibit, DJ Quik and Chamillionaire.

It was soooo much fun! The Video above was one of my favorite moments of the night. Boy oh boy does Too Short get busy.

Ballerstatus review

Told you guys the footage was coming! I caught up with DJ Quik in Lyon France where he showed me what its to walk in his shoes. From the French fans  throwing up the Ws, to trying Escargot, to tasting water from the Toxic river, to a special gift from a fan, to holding up lines at the airport just so the workers could get pictures, this trip has it all.

Lyon is the Sh*t! :)

Had the chance to go to Lyon France this past weekend. Amazing doesn’t even begin to describe. Huge shouts to DJ Quik, Big Rob, KiKi, WC, and Crazy Toones.
The love that the people of Lyon have for westcoast Hip Hop almost made me envious. Everywhere we went you could hear it blarring through the speakers (ex. Nate Dogg playing in the Gucci store). I asked one of the friends we met out there “How do you guys understand what is being said?” he replied “We understand the concept”…*welp* thats good enough for me :)

P.S…I have video footage from the show comin soon :)

If you’re at SXSW this week, Cashmere & Stampede’s “Respect the West” show is something you def shouldn’t miss.

DJ Quik X Murs X Kurupt X Jay Rock X Dom Kennedy X Diz Gibran….need I say more?

Devi

Reunited and it feels so good :)

“Nobody” is going to be on Quik upcoming album: The Book of David.

Had a chance to hear the whole project a couple weeks ago…Bananas.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to one of the most talented people to ever do it! DJ Muthafckn QUIK!

Quik is probably one of the first people I met when I got into radio. I think I was 19 or so at the time, and I damn near passed out when he walked in the room. If you grew up in L.A like I did, especially around the Era of 92.3 The Beat, at a young age it was essential that you learn every word to not only every quik song, but also every “Theo Drop” that hit the airwaves. Thought id share my favorite “Quik’s Groove” with yall.

Happy Birthday friend :)

One of my favorite people in the world TORE DOWN THE HOUSE on friday at the House of Blues!

DJ Quik presents: Rythm-Al-Ism

This was a spin on his “Quik’s Grooves” series where he performs with a live band. As always at a quik show it was sold out and BEYOND PACKED. And as im sure you can tell by my hair in the pics, it was HOT as hell in there!

Of course he had friends on deck with him to set it off (shouts to Dwayne Wiggins and 1500 or nothin!) and folks like Crazy Toones, Murs and Electrik Red came to show love :)

Hard Knock TV  caught up with Murs and DJ Quik recently at the DJ Skee  EA Sports event. By far this was one of the Funniest interviews we have ever done, and Murs & Quik made my job easy by taking over hosting duties.

They discuss, Sex, “Sweet Black P*ssy”, Police, The Raekwon-Joe Budden Beef and Eminem (more about that after the jump)…

if only i could tell yall what we edited out…LAWDHAVEMERCY.

Fresh Fest

Fresh Fest was so damn fun. Almost a week later and I think im still feeling the effects from it. SMH. This was our official re-introduction to society (93.5 KDAY). We kicked off the launch with a Concert featuring DJ Quik, Naughty by Nature, Big Daddy Kane, Slick Rick, 2nd II None, Whodini, and Doug E Fresh at the Nokia Theatre. POPPIN. Sold out crowd, all races, all ages. Hip Hop still sells.

My favorite performance was Naughty by Nature. I almost forgot for a second that they were from the East Coast as many times as they threw up the dub. Not to mention they did a tribute set in honor of Tupac where Treach poured out a lil liquor onto the Pac tattoo on his forearm. Lol.

Shouts to Katt Williams for stoppen thru to suprise the crowd :)
