HAPPY BIRTHDAY to one of the most talented people to ever do it! DJ Muthafckn QUIK!
Quik is probably one of the first people I met when I got into radio. I think I was 19 or so at the time, and I damn near passed out when he walked in the room. If you grew up in L.A like I did, especially around the Era of 92.3 The Beat, at a young age it was essential that you learn every word to not only every quik song, but also every “Theo Drop” that hit the airwaves. Thought id share my favorite “Quik’s Groove” with yall.
Happy Birthday friend

One of my favorite people in the world TORE DOWN THE HOUSE on friday at the House of Blues!
DJ Quik presents: Rythm-Al-Ism
This was a spin on his “Quik’s Grooves” series where he performs with a live band. As always at a quik show it was sold out and BEYOND PACKED. And as im sure you can tell by my hair in the pics, it was HOT as hell in there!
Of course he had friends on deck with him to set it off (shouts to Dwayne Wiggins and 1500 or nothin!) and folks like Crazy Toones, Murs and Electrik Red came to show love
Hard Knock TV caught up with Murs and DJ Quik recently at the DJ Skee EA Sports event. By far this was one of the Funniest interviews we have ever done, and Murs & Quik made my job easy by taking over hosting duties.
They discuss, Sex, “Sweet Black P*ssy”, Police, The Raekwon-Joe Budden Beef and Eminem (more about that after the jump)…
if only i could tell yall what we edited out…LAWDHAVEMERCY.
Fresh Fest was so damn fun. Almost a week later and I think im still feeling the effects from it. SMH. This was our official re-introduction to society (93.5 KDAY). We kicked off the launch with a Concert featuring DJ Quik, Naughty by Nature, Big Daddy Kane, Slick Rick, 2nd II None, Whodini, and Doug E Fresh at the Nokia Theatre. POPPIN. Sold out crowd, all races, all ages. Hip Hop still sells.
My favorite performance was Naughty by Nature. I almost forgot for a second that they were from the East Coast as many times as they threw up the dub. Not to mention they did a tribute set in honor of Tupac where Treach poured out a lil liquor onto the Pac tattoo on his forearm. Lol.
Shouts to Katt Williams for stoppen thru to suprise the crowd

He doesn’t know it. But David Blake has been a part of my life since the moment I heard ”Sweet Black P*ssy” blaring through the speakers of my Aunts Nissan 240sx. I was 10 and my world was forever changed.
LOL
Dramatic…yes. But DJ Quik is one of the many reason’s I love the west coast. As an artist, producer, and musician he is a force bigger then himself.
We’ve run into each other 100’s of times but I finally Got the chance to sit down with him at 93.5 KDAY right before his new album (with Kurupt) “The Blaqkout” dropped.
