This past weekend, Kendrick Lamar held a sold out show at The Music Box in L.A. Folks like Dr. Dre, Talib Kweli, The Game, Kurupt, Snoop Dogg and Mos Def came to support.
In the video, you can see a very heartfelt moment on stage where Snoop said he was passing the torch to K.Dot. Watching that made tears swell in my eyes. What an amazing moment of West Coast Unity. I am so happy for/ proud of Kendrick. And after seeing this…SO homesick! #LA
So much happens in a year!…seems like yesterday that DJ Eque and I had him and the TDE camp on The Left Effect, and it was exactly 12 months ago that he performed at my going away party. Only a matter of time now before he hits stadium status.
Jay Rock rolled thru Sway in the mornings to talk Jay Rock’s upcoming album Follow me Home (In stores tuesday!) Kendrick was in the building as well, and the pair talked Dr. Dre (of course), Strange Music, the recent murder of Rock’s homeboy, and growing up L.A.
